Meet the Board
Our Board brings together a wealth of experience, community knowledge and commitment and they are playing an important role in transforming Hackney's housing.
Three different groups of people make up the Board: five elected Residents, four appointed Independents and four Council nominees.

Resident Board Members

Rupert Tyson MBE is a Dalston resident who previously worked in housing for local government. He has lived in the borough for 23 years. Rupert was re-elected Chair of the Board in September 2010.
"I want to contribute to the decision making of Hackney Homes and ensure compliance with Hackney Homes' vision to deliver a first class housing service to tenants and residents."

Alice Burke is a trained auxiliary nurse and has lived in Hackney for more than 30 years. She is a resident of Hackney Downs. Alice was re-elected Vice Chair of the Board in September 2010.
"I joined the Board to help Hackney residents get a fair deal. Every Hackney Homes resident should get the best service wherever they live."

Audrey Villas is a Shoreditch resident and has lived in Hackney for over 43 years. An active advocate, she promotes activities for young people and works with residents to make estates safe. Audrey is committed to working as part of a team to make a different on Hackney's estates.
"I am proud to be a member of the Hackney Homes Board and I am committed to promoting equal opportunities for all residents."

David Larkin has been involved as a resident in Hackney for over 16 years. As a young person aged 20, he set up a local residents association which has led to a career in housing and resident involvement.
"As a Hackney Homes Board Member, I am determined to ensure the achievements gained over the past few years are not lost and that Hackney Homes grows from strength to strength."

Joseph Oshikoya is a retired businessman and has lived in Hackney for many years. A Homerton resident, Joseph recognises and celebrates the diversity of the borough and is committed to ensuring that the needs of residents are adequately addressed.
"I joined the Board to contribute my skills and experience to ensure that residents in Hackney get the best service at all times."

Independent Board Members

Mervyn Jones is an experienced senior housing professional, previously working as Chief Executive of two housing associations. Throughout his career, he has helped organisations move through challenging periods and focus on developing a customer focused culture.
"I lived in Hackney for over ten years and I look forward to making a contribution to improving the quality of housing and environment for residents."

Tom Tyson works for Lambeth Council as a Policy Manager. In this role, Tom works closely with the ALMO, Lambeth Living and also takes the lead for resident involvement. Tom brings his knowledge and experience of local authority housing management as well policy development to this role on the Board.
"I look forward to working with Hackney Homes to ensure the provision of improved services for all residents."

Alex Russell has lived in Hackney for six years. She is an experienced community campaigner and some of her priorities include working with the police to tackle anti-social behaviour and encouraging local business in the borough.
"I am committed to working with Hackney Homes to address issues that are important to residents including anti social behaviour and encouraging local business opportunities."

Saleem Siddiqui has been a councillor for King's Park Ward since 1990, served as Mayor in 1995 and 2001 and has lived locally since 1975. He has taken a keen interest in the development of the Olympic infrastructure and is also focused on tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and improving housing provision.
"Hackney is a great place to live and work. I am looking forward to working with Hackney Homes to continuously improve Hackney estates for our residents."

Samantha Lloyd has lived in Hackney since 1984 and has a wealth of experience working with local communities. As a local councillor since 1999, she has met many people across the borough. Professionally, she works as a project manager and she is also a Governor at Mossbourne Academy.
"We are working with the community to build on progress that already has been made. I know we can implement many improvements."

Susan Fajana-Thomas is the current Speaker of Hackney as well as a Stoke Newington councillor and has lived in Hackney for twenty years. Affordable and well maintained housing provision, community safety and community engagement are some of the issues close to Susan's heart.
"I am proud of my achievements as a resident representative in Stoke Newington. This has given me the opportunity to serve my community, support the empowerment of residents and contribute to a better and effective delivery of housing services"
