    What is the Crackdown team?

    The Crackdown team aims to achieve the sustainable closure of crack dens in Hackney to ensure a safer community. The project is a partnership between local residents, the Crackdown team and local police. It is funded by the Home Office, Hackney Council and Hackney Homes. The team receive tip-offs from local residents who can report anonymously using a free phone telephone number, e-mail and text address. They work closely with local police team around intelligence about activity.

    Has Crackdown reduced the number of crack houses in Hackney?

    Crackdown has significantly reduced the number of known crack houses operating within Hackney over the past 20 months and has conducted operations on more than 250 crack houses.

    Is Crackdown reducing crack use in Hackney?

    The project is committed to making Hackney a safer community for residents to live, work and play. Perpetrators of crack houses are provided access to drug rehabilitation treatment and social care services are provided for vulnerable users.
