    Interested in buying your Council home

    Are you thinking of applying for the Right to Buy or do you have an application in progress?  This will help you with all queries relating to your application prior to the actual completion of your purchase.

    After you have purchased your property

    Once you have completed the Right to Buy our Customer Services Team will be your first point of contact.  You can contact them on on 020 8356 2100.  Customer Services will assist you with all leasehold and some freehold queries, eg Service Charges, Major Works, resale packs (for solicitors' enquiries) and more.

    What you can expect

    Home Ownership Services
    We aim to provide excellent services for residents interested in home ownership. This is provided by our Home Ownership Customer Services  and Righ to Buy Teams, based at 298 Mare Street, London E8 1HE and open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
    Our approach is to…
    • Provide a professional home ownership service through our dedicated Right to Buy Team
    • Provide easy access to free Right to Buy application forms, through the Right to Buy Team or online.
    • Offer help and advice and process all applications and enquires quickly. This will include confirming your Right to Buy, arranging a valuation and making a formal offer to you, giving the purchase price of your property
    Our service standards
    • We will send out a Right to Buy application form within 24 hours of one being requested
    • We will tell you within 4 weeks of receiving your application, via the form RTB2, whether or not you have the Right to Buy (or within 8 weeks if you have been a tenant with us for less than 2 years)
    • If you do qualify to buy, we will make the formal offer, setting out the terms of your proposed purchase, including the price, within 12 weeks of the RTB2 (8 weeks if you are buying a freehold property)
    • Once you have received your offer, we will give you the statutory period of 3 months if you want to appeal against the valuation to the independent District Valuer
    • If you do not respond to the offer we will not cancel your application until at least 12 weeks after your offer AND after we have given you a further period of 4 weeks notice, in writing.
