Disability Equality Scheme

The Disability Discrimination Act, places upon the Council a positive duty to promote disability equality and develop a Disability Equality Scheme in partnership with local disabled people, our staff and community partners in Hackney.

As landlord to all Council tenants and leaseholders, Hackney Homes is a partner in this scheme, which has been produced with the Disability Rights Commission and the Officer for Public Management. The scheme explains what actions the Council will take over the next three years to promote disability equality.
