Hackney is one of the most diverse boroughs in London. We boast a rich and culturally diverse community, speaking more than 70 languages.

To achieve our mission of delivering excellent, responsive housing services we must have an understanding of our residents needs. It is clear that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not the answer. We need to understand our diverse communities and have a focused approach for delivering quality services to meet their needs.

This Equality and Diversity Strategy is not an explanation of equality and diversity, it is an explanation of how we value difference and promote community cohesion. It covers both how we deliver services to residents and our employment practice within Hackney Homes.

Our strategy explains the steps we are taking and the projects we are implementing to increase access to our services regardless of people’s age, disabilities, ethnicity, gender or gender identification, faith/belief or sexual orientation.
