Leaseholders and Freeholders Conference
The first ever Leaseholders and Freeholders Conference was held on 26 January 2008 with over 160 leaseholders and freeholders attending. It is planned for this to become an annual event.
The purpose of the event was to provide opportunities for leaseholders and freeholders to meet and talk with Hackney Homes staff about the services they receive. Also to listen and speak to external agencies on issues ranging from leasehold management, welfare advice, and energy saving tips and information. We are committed to improving the delivery and access to our services and the conference is another way Hackney Homes is able to achieve this.
Many external organisations offered their time free of charge and had stalls. The Leasehold Advisory Service provided advise on leasehold issues, welfare advice was provided the Citizens Advice Bureau, CHAS, Houseproud, Age Concern Hackney and the London Borough of Hackney Benefits office. Energy Advice and information was given by Hackney Homes Property Services, Cosytop and the Energy Saving Trust. The feedback from leaseholders and freeholders was that the information at the stalls was excellent. Giving access to these external organisations is another way in which Hackney Homes offers support to leaseholders and freeholders.
Hackney Homes was well represented at the Conference with many staff giving their time to speak and give advice to leaseholders. The Chairman of the Board, other Board members, the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of Service also attended.
Feedback from leaseholders and freeholders indicate many found the event very useful and that they benefited from being able to approach the right people and get answers to their questions and concerns. They enjoyed talking to Hackney Homes staff, face to face, finding out new ways to get involved, changes to the Enhanced TRA's, and voicing their concerns on issues like payment of service charges, major works, cleaning, and anti-social behaviour.
There were many questions raised on the day. See the FAQs page for more information.
