Woodberry Works Construction
Woodberry Works is an innovative training centre providing construction training and employability support to the residents of Woodberry Down and Stamford Hill. It aims to support the priority of tackling social and financial exclusion by delivering training and associated services to increase employability primarily among Woodberry Down residents. The main focus for achieving this is to up-skill and provide employment opportunities in the Construction and construction-related industries.
Woodberry Works enables local residents to get hands on experience and industry recognised qualifications within a professional and supportive environment.
A range of courses are available for local people to take part in including:
- NVQ Level 1 Introduction to Construction
- Women in DIY
- First Aid at Work
- Site Security
- Manual Handling
- Business Administration
Woodberry Works also commissions specialist organisations to support us in delivering discrete courses for the Charedi (Orthodox Jewish) community.
You can only enrol for a Woodberry Works course during an enrolment session carried out by our staff at the Woodberry Works Training Centre.
Courses are open to:
- anyone over the age of 16 years with no upper age limit
- employed individuals and employment seekers / benefits claimants
- residents of Woodberry Down Estate (priority places), Amhurst Park and Stamford Hill
Childcare is only offered through registered childminders for trainees on daytime NVQ courses.
Woodberry Works Construction Training Centre (including the Professional Construction Training Suite from January 2009) is a dedicated training centre providing accredited courses and short course programmes
The Professional Training Construction Suite will provide a venue for employers to deliver staff training or for Woodberry Works to deliver customised training where commissioned by employers.
The Woodberry Works Candidate Pool (Brokerage Scheme) is a scheme whereby trainees join the Candidate Pool on successful completion of their accredited courses. All employment opportunities linked to the Woodberry Down development, Olympics and Apprenticeships are accessed through this mechanism. The Candidate Pool will also provide a route into flexible working within "The Full Works" Construction Canteen from Summer 2009.
