Helping you manage your money

Hackney Homes is offering a FREE workshop for residents which cover the key topics of budgeting, sticking to a budget, credit and dealing with debt.  Call 0208 356 7845 if you are interested.

Hackney Homes wants your help to keep our estates safe and that is why we are bringing our first safety roadshows to thirty estates this summer.
You can report issues that you are concerned about in your area to staff on the day who will tell you how these will be dealt with. It could be noisy neighbours, concerns about dogs or concerns about aggressive neighbours.
All reports will be anonymous and Hackney Homes’ staff will keep you updated throughout the period which the issue is investigated.
Residents will also be able to meet police officers from their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team. Staff from the UK’s largest dog welfare charity Dogs Trust will be there to support local residents, providing FREE microchipping for residents’ dogs,  specialist advice on responsible dog ownership, dog training tips and low cost vaccination, neutering, flea and worm treatement.
A microchip is a small electronic device, the size of a grain of rice, which is implanted under the skin between a dog’s shoulder blades. The microchip is coded with a unique number that is stored on a database and which can be read by a scanner. If a dog is ever lost or stolen, it will be scanned and returned to its owner.
Please note that this free chipping offer is open to all Hackney Homes tenants and leaseholders. A £5 offer is available for all other Hackney residents. All offers are subject to availability on each participating roadshow estate. Proof of address will be required.
For more information, contact the Hackney Homes Estate Safety Team on 0208 356 1911.

Decision made on the future of Housing Management Contracts

Customer Service

Over 3000 residents made their views known in a borough wide survey about the provision of housing management services in Hackney.
Using the feedback from residents and financial considerations, the decision was made by Hackney Council Cabinet yesterday (1st March 2010) for some housing management contracts (this will mean services such as collecting rent, tenancy management and dealing with anti social behaviour) to be delivered directly by Hackney Homes from April 2011.
Full details of the decision made can be read on the Hackney Council Website. Click here and scroll down to Point 11.
This will result in cost savings for Hackney Homes. In addition, it will result in more streamlined services, consistency of service across neighbourhoods and more flexibility to make vital changes to service delivery.
Further information will be available in the next few months about how this change will be managed across all neighbourhoods.
