    Gas servicing

Gas stove  Gas safety is a priority

    About the programme

Faulty gas appliances are dangerous and can result in death if they are not serviced properly. Faulty gas appliances can emit carbon monoxide - a potentially deadly but odorless and invisible gas that is difficult to detect.
Your safety is of the utmost importance and we need your cooperation to carry out annual gas safety checks.
Hackney Homes carries out free annual gas checks for all tenants to make sure that your gas appliances are in the correct working order and are safe for you to use. As your landlord it is our statutory obligation to carry out these checks and you must let us in to carry out this check.
You will be sent an appointment time in the post. If you need to change your appointment or if you have any questions, please call us on free phone number 0800 199 124.

    What you can expect?

Working with residents, Hackney Homes has developed service standards that explain the service you can expect. We will...
    • Carry out a gas check in all tenants’ homes, where gas appliances have been installed by Hackney Council or Hackney Homes, once a year to make sure that any gas appliances and the central heating system are safe and work properly
    • Issue the tenant with a copy of a valid gas safety certificate
    • Replace any Hackney Homes’ supplied appliances that have become obsolete with an up-to-date and more energy efficient appliance.
