Your re-usable bag for recycling

Residents living on estates and high-rise properties have now been issued with a reuseable recycling bag to assist them with recycling from their flat. To use yours simply:
1. Place the bag inside your kitchen to collect your recyclable materials.
2. When full, take your bag to your recycling bins to empty.
3. Return your reusable bag to your kitchen to begin collecting again.

Please note:

The bag will not be collected from the front door - it is a receptacle to assist with recycling.  If the orange reuseable bags are left outside the front door will be removed, this is due to the following reasons:

. Bags left outside the front door will pose a fire hazard.
. Bags left outside the front door can lead to trip and falls.
. Hackney Homes resident are not allowed to leave anything in the internal landings and corridors due to health and safety reasons.

The bags have been purchased and delivered thanks to external funding from the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWaRB).

An increasing number of estates in Hackney now receive a communal food waste service. Find out more about recycling food on estates.

Estates with street level properties

For those estates which contain street properties within the grounds (i.e., houses or low-rise apartment blocks that face out onto a street), a green box door-to-door collection may be implemented, subject to an assessment carried out by the Council's recycling contractors. For more information on this service please see the Green Box recycling page.

To find out which service your estate has in place, please phone the Recycling Hotline - see the top-right corner of this page for details.
