Hackney Homes is serious about tackling crime and ensuring estates are a safe place to live.
The Neighbourhood Housing Offices take the lead in dealing with all enquiries related to anti-social behavour. Find your nearest office.
There are also a number of specialist teams who deal with specific types of crime.
The Estate Safety Team
The Estate Safety Team are responsible for tackling fraud, pirate radio and serious cases of crime on estates.
The team works to:
- Tackle fraud and deception - key selling, squatting and unauthorised occupation and other fraud
- Shut down anti pirate radio work and tackle other unlawful activities including prostitution.
- Provide a confidential drugs hotline for reporting unlawful use of drugs on Council Estates.
- Work with the Neighbourhood Housing Offices to provide services to tackle anti social behaviour on Estates
- Visit homes and make referrals for the Safer Cities Doors programme, which has significantly reduced repeat burglaries by providing more resilient doors
- Make proposals for block and roof security measures
- Provide advice on improvement to tenant’s security
- Deal with squatters and unauthorised occupants.
