Will I receive a disturbance allowance if there is a demolition?
Hackney Homes does not have a compensation policy for anyone affected by the proximity of demolition.
If it is likely that you will be affected by the proximity of demolition, we will usually move (decant) you to another property. This can be either on a temporary or permanent basis and you will receive statutory home loss payments together with all costs and expenses reasonably incurred.
You will also be interviewed by a Decant Officer who will ascertain your housing needs, in accordance with Hackney Homes policy, and provide you with a decant pack containing all the relevant information.
What if I am a leaseholder affected by a demolition?
If you are a leaseholder or freeholder and are affected by the proximity of demolition we normally purchase the property at market value and make a home loss payment. This is currently 10% of the purchase price. Hackney Homes will also meet all reasonable fees.
