Phasing

The Phasing Plan allows for efficient and viable delivery whilst promoting early rehousing.
The overall phasing plan has been carefully considered and developed by a local stakeholder group of residents and designers to minimise the impact of redevelopment on residents and to ensure that the blocks in the worst condition are tackled early in the programme.
The phasing plan will mean some tenants in the kick start sites will experience double-moves, i.e. a move into a temporary home before their move into the new build homes. After this first phase, the intention is that tenants will only make one move, directly to their new homes.
A new Health Centre and Business Training and Development Centre will also be incorporated in the first phase, the latter complementing the educational site.
As a result of the Woodberry Down Primary School and the John Scott Health Centre being listed in 2007, a revised phasing plan was developed. This ensured that the proposed New Academy, now being built, is delivered in the first phase.
Blocks are progressively demolished as they become completely empty to reduce any security issues arising from them lying empty.
As the project develops the phasing plan will be refined and developed further in partnership with local resident groups consulted at every stage of the process.
