The nominations for the Active Residents Awards have been extended to 7 January 2011.
If someone in your community is making a difference, nominate them for the Hackney Homes Active Residents Awards 2010. Now in its fourth year, the awards encourage local people to nominate their unsung heroes. They could win money to sponsor community initiatives. You can nominate in four different categories:
Young Resident of the Year (under 25)
This is to recognise a young person who has made a positive impact in their neighbourhood and is a role model to others.
Resident of the Year
This is to recognise an individual who makes Hackney a better place to live. They might have done something unusual or special for their community, they could have helped in the community for many years or they might stand out for starting a new project.
Resident Group of the Year
This is to recognise a group of residents who together are having a positive impact on their neighbourhood. The group can be large or small and it can be a formal group such as a Tenants and Residents Association, or an informal group who have worked together.
Ron Devoti Award for Services to Hackney
This category is in honour of a well known and respected resident who passed away last year. The Ron Devoti Award will recognise residents who have dedicated years to improving the community in which they live.
