Blog Entry

Summer 2010

It has been a few months since I have written this blog and so much has happened. I want to share with you three exciting updates that I am really proud of.

First, you may be aware that Hackney Council Cabinet has extended Hackney Homes management agreement for a further three years. The Council praised Hackney Homes management of the decent homes programme and improving resident satisfaction. I am very pleased about this as it means that we can now look forward to continuing to improve the services that we are providing to Hackney residents.

Secondly, we have three new faces on the Hackney Homes Board. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Marie Photiou and Audrey Villas for all their time and commitment to the Board and to improving services to Hackney residents. The three new faces on the Hackney Homes Board are Doreen Bullock representing the Shoreditch area, Joseph Oshikoya representing the Homerton area and Mervyn Jones who is an independent member. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge of residents as well and expertise within a range of fields. I am sure that you will join me in welcoming them onto the Hackney Homes Board.

Thirdly, I am pleased that so many Tenants and Residents Associations have spent the summer getting residents on estates and in their local community together. The Lockner Estate celebrated the Big Lunch, St Marys had fun during Family Week and young residents on Fawcett Estate got together to try out sporting activities. This is great and I encourage other associations to bring residents together and continue to engender good community spirit.

I hope that you have enjoyed your summer and I look forward to writing to you again later in the year.
