FREE four week construction training
Manor House Development Trust has secured funding from Team Hackney for the Built 2 Work project which will be delivered through the Woodberry Works training and employment project.
This is an exciting opportunity for Hackney residents aged 16-25 to take up a FREE four week construction training course starting mid October 2010.
There will be a further four week course in January 2011.
This training is being delivered in partnership with the award-winning Construction Youth Trust, an organization skilled at engaging, motivating and supporting young people to overcome barriers during their journey to work in construction.

This is an ideal qualification for Hackney residents who wish to train to become a Teaching Assistant/Support Worker and who would like to gain recognition of skills acquired whilst working in the childcare sector. You may already be working in a voluntary capacity in a classroom or may have some involvement with schools as a parent or carer/helper, but the qualification is also open to those who have no previous relevant experience. This is a twenty week course, which includes a commitment of two days per week, one of which will be placement in a Hackney school.
This is suitable for a wide range of people, including the unemployed, students, returners-to-work, people with special educational needs and employed people looking to change career or who are facing redundancy.
Delivered in communities for those who want to start their own business, the qualifications are appropriate for a range of learners as part of an applied/vocational learning experience. As the course develops skills to action-plan, solve problems and work creatively; it is equally valuable in encouraging enterprise in adults in their own lives and also at work.
